They are friendly, polite, and hard working. They are a credit to the Plumbers FL, and I’m glad they were here to help me. Thank you Christian and Carlos and the Plumbers FL crew. I always call Plumbers FL, and recommend their services to neighbors and friends. Thank you.
We have used Plumbers Florida many times in the past. The technicians are always pleasant, professional and do outstanding work. Our last experience was with William who went above and beyond our expectations. His communication skills and advise were spot on. As well as just a really, really nice man!!!
As homesteaders, we try to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Colorado Potato Beetle: Scourge of the homestead vegetable garden. We will show how we use natural organic controls for the Colorado Potato Beetle. The Beetle problem it pretty bad here. Not sure how it is normally since this is our first full year here, but they are busily eating all of the Nightshade family plants they can find. There is a lot of nightshade – Carolina Horse Nettle growing natively around here. Almost every plant seen has an infestation of the Potato beetle. That part is ok – perhaps the beetles will kill a lot of the nightshade. In the meantime, we try to keep the colorado potato beetles from damaging and killing our potatoes, tomatoes and eggplants. They have killed one or two eggplants so far – almost overnight. They work really quick. Every day the kids go out and collect the potato beetles and larva that they can find and feed them to the chickens. As fast as they feed them to the chickens, more appear so it is a slow battle for the garden.
Another thing we are trying is using “BT” or Bacillus Thuringiensis an organic pest control. Using a combination of natural pest control methods works best for the Colorado Potato Beetle. Trying to use chemical controls is pretty fruitless since they either are resistant or will quickly develop resistance to chemicals. BT is approved for use in organic gardens since it is a bacteria that is found naturally in soil. The larva of leaf eating insects ingest the bacillus and quickly become sick and stop eating. They soon die. Bacillus Thuringiensis is harmless to all higher life forms including honeybees and humans. Birds that eat the dead or dying larva are not harmed by the BT either. This makes BT a near ideal control when coupled with hand picking the beetle.
