Chevrolet to introduce Spark mini-car, Spark EV in U.S.
Chevrolet will be introducing its Spark mini-car and a battery electric version called the Spark EV in the United States in 2011. The car will be the smallest offered by the brand in America and will make its debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The non-electric Spark will be powered by a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 83 horsepower. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be offered. Despite its small size, Chevy says it will offer more room inside than other mini cars, including the similarly-sized Fiat 500. It will also come with a five year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and available OnStar equipment.
Sunvalley Solar to install 220-kW solar system in California
Sunvalley Solar Inc. has signed a 220-kW commercial solar installation contract with Ken Vong Farms in Thermal City, California. The system will comprise of 938 PV panels from Tianwei and one 260-KW solar inverter from PV Powered. The total contracted value of the system is close to million, which is supported in part, by solar incentive rebates offered through the local utility company and Federal Tax Cash Grants.
The solar system is expected to generate 351,919 kWh of electricity annually. During the peak months of May through October, the system will generate surplus power and earn credits with Imperial Irrigation District Utility, offsetting the less sunny winter months.
The installation will begin in early 2012.
SunEdison secures 0 million in financing for solar projects development in North America
MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. subsidiary SunEdison has secured a 0 million three-year project finance revolving credit facility. The credit facility, arranged by Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. and Rabobank, will be used to support the construction costs of utility and rooftop solar projects throughout the United States and Canada and the capital is immediately available.
Currently, SunEdison has more than 500 solar energy systems deployed throughout the United States and Canada and 330 MW of installed solar capacity. The deployed solar base, financed predominately through bank funding, makes SunEdison one of the leading providers of solar energy to the U.S. and Canadian markets.
Mantra Venture Group to participate in Canadian Cleantech Colorado Connection Initiative
Mantra Venture Group Ltd. has been selected by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada and the Consul General of Canada in Denver to take part in the Canadian Cleantech Colorado Connection (C4) Initiative. The C4 Initiative is designed to assist Canadian Cleantech entrepreneurs to grow their business internationally. The C4 Initiative was developed by the Trade Commissioner Service in Denver in collaboration with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. NREL is the only federal laboratory dedicated to the research, development, commercialization and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The Initiative will be taking place early November 2011 in Denver, Colorado.
