Plumbing: Repair Broken Main Water Line From Pressure Tank. We replumbed this pump house when we bought the homestead. When I plumbed it, I should have pulled the pressure tank clear out and replaced the line going into the tank itself. I took a short cut and now pay for it later on down the road. Lesson learned (again!). This time I replaced the PVC pipe fitting with a galvanized steel fitting so there is far less chance of it breaking. I was thinking I would have to rebuild the whole manifold once again, but by moving the pressure tank just a bit, I was able ti re-use most of the existing plumbing. The difference between properly sized PVC plumbing, and the extremely undersized PEX pipe the original plumber installed is huge. PEX may be ok for inside of a home, but has no business being in a higher volume pump house.
