Interesting unit. You should have shown the plumber connecting the
waterlines with dielectric unions, though. I have seen so many heater
installed with copper fittings directly on the galvanized…

Hi Victor, I am sorry you are having this draining issue. We must recommend
contacting GE for service. See the Support tab on our GEAppliances website
service scheduling information. Heat Pump (only) Mode is the most energy
efficient selection. – Thanks, Michelle with GE

It doesn’t really have a capacity of 50 gallons does it? Just the whole
chassis is the same size as a 50 gallon water heater, but the upper portion
is the heatpump, so it holds more like 40 gallons of water?

  5. GE Appliances says:

danwat1234 – The GeoSpring holds the same volume of water as other standard
electric 50 gallon water heaters. The diameter of the interior tank has a
large effect on the stored volume of water, and the wall thickness required
for insulation factors into the outer diameter. GeoSpring follows the
industry standard practice for calculating tank volume, which all water
heater manufacturers use, so the comparisons are apples to apples. Thanks
for checking with us! Alison with GE

Thanks, we just got it installed and it’s heating up the water now in
heatpump only mode. Pretty quiet and the electrical meter on the outside of
the house is barely rotating so it’s definitely saving a lot of energy.

I have it installed and it is working great. But it would be nice if the
display could tell me what the current temperature that the water is, so I
know if it’s not up to temperature. It only shows what temperature it’s set

I have one of these hybrid water heater in my new home. The bottom plastic
pan fills up with water every 3 days. Why would that be happening?????

  11. Jean Stahl says:

I’ve had my GeoSpring Hybrid Water Heater for over 2 years now.
Installation was similar to any hot water heater.
In the winter I change it to electric only as it is in a conditioned
basement. It is LOUD when the fan is running, but not a problem for me as
it is in a laundry room. It can be bought for only a couple hundred dollars
more than a top electric only unit. Even in Heat Pump Mode my family of 5
has never run out of hot water. Very pleased with it!
