Tankless Water Heater Valparaiso

Kerry Tidwell, General Manager of ARS/Rescue Rooter of Indianapolis, discussed tips to maintain your water heater and options for replacing your old water heater. It’s just as important to get your water heater tuned-up since it’s a major piece of equipment in your home. After all, if you’re out of hot water, it’ll completely disrupt your daily routine. Once a year, have a licensed plumber come out to do a water heater tune-up. We do this to ensure that your water heater keeps working efficiently and increase its life span. Water heaters that are not tuned-up yearly will succumb to wear-and-tear faster and put a huge burden on your energy bills.
However, on older water heaters, we often find leaks and corrosion that sometimes can’t be fixed by a simple tune-up. Water heaters have an average life span of 12 years. Your old water heater may plug along for a few years, but you don’t want to wait to find out. We’re just learning the benefits about tankless water heaters here in America. Tankless water heaters generate hot water on-demand. They don’t store any hot water so they’re not wasting energy while you’re not using it. When you turn on your hot water tap, cold water travels through a pipe into this unit, and gets heated by either a gas burner or electric element (depending on what you have), and instantaneously heats the water. That way tankless water heaters can be more energy efficient than conventional tank water heaters.
